TOSKANA RÜYASI – TUSCANY DREAM; CASTELLO BANFI IL BORGO & MONTALCINO

Roma’dan kuzeye doğru çıkmaya başladıktan 1 saat sonra bir anda tüm doğa ve manzara değişiverdi. Yeşilin bin bir tonu ve şansımıza tüm tarlalarda açmış sarı bahar çiçekleri bize Toskana’ya hoş geldiniz diyordu! Toplamda 2,5 saat sonra ise Toskana’daki ilk durağımız olan, Castello Banfi Il Borgo‘ya ulaştık. Toskana’nın  en güzel kasabalarından biri olan Montalcino’ya sadece 10 km uzaklıkta bulunan bu otel, tarihi atmosferi ve konumu itibariyle tepeden hakim olduğu manzarası ve uçsuz bucaksız bağlarıyla tam anlamıyla sizi ilk görüşte büyülüyor.

English:“One hour after we headed to north from Rome, all the nature and landscape changed. Thousands of green tons and yellow spring flowers in all fields tell us that you are welcome to Tuscany!  After a total of 2.5 hours we arrived Castello Banfi Il Borgo, our first stop in Tuscany. This hotel is located only 10 km from Montalcino, one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany.  The hotel fascinates at the first sight of you, literally, with its historical ambience , its location, view of it from the hill and its vast vineyards.”

Otelin bulunduğu kale 7. yüzyılda inşa edilmiş ve 500 yüzyıl kadar Castello Poggio alle Mura ya da kısaca “Duvarlı Tepe” ismiyle hayatta kalmış. Hatırlarsanız bir önceki yazımda eskiden İtalya’da her bir şehrin ayrı birer ülke gibi yönetildiğini yazmıştım. O dönemlerde kale, Siena Cumhuriyeti’nin güneyden saldırıya karşı ilk savunma hattı olarak hizmet vermiş ve sonra devlet tarafından saygın bir soylu olan Kont Placido Placidi’ye verilmiş ve 500 yıl boyunca da kontun mirasçıları olan torunlarına devrolmuş. Ardından II. Dünya Savaşı gelip çatmış ve kale adeta bir harabeye dönmüş. 1978 yılında ise İtalyan – Amerikan kardeşler John ve Harry Mariani‘nin mülkiyetine geçip, muhteşem bir restorasyonla bugünkü Banfi haline geliyor. 30 yıldır hem şarapçılık hem de restoran ve otel işletmeciliği yapılan Banfi, günümüzde dünyaca bilinen ve saygı gören bir mekan haline gelmiş. Etkilenmemek elde değil gerçekten…

English:“The castle which the hotel is situated was built in the 7th century and named as Castello Poggio alle Mura or simply “The Walled Hilltop” , for 500 centuries. If you remember, I wrote in my previous article that every city in Italy was governed like a separate country. At that time the castle was the first defense line against the attack of the Republic of Siena from the south and then by the state it had been given to Earl Placido Placidi, a notable noble and over 500 years he was transferred to his grandsons who were his inheritors. Then II. World War had began and the castle almost had been falled into ruin. In 1978, it became the property of the Italian-American brothers John and Marie Mariani, and became a Banfi today with a magnificent restoration. For 30 years, Banfi has been working as both wine-making and restaurant and hotel management . Today, Banfi has become a known and respected place in the world. it is really impressive…”

Gelelim konaklama deneyimimize… Otelin otoparkından sizi minik bir golf arabasıyla gelip alıyorlar. Sonrası resepsiyonda sıcak bir karşılama ve adeta sebillerden akan şarap ikramları 🙂

ODAMIZ-OUR ROOM; SUITE POGGIO all’ORO

Otelin Konuk Ağırlama Direktörü Sayın Juan Miquel‘in bize yapmış olduğu en büyük jestlerden biri, odamızı upgrade ederek, otelde az sayıda bulunan bu en büyük suit odalarından birini bize vermesiydi. 16 numaralı bu oda tam olarak 110m2 ve bizim evin salonundan daha büyük bir banyo, bir giyinme odası ve oturma alanı ile beraber yatak odasından oluşuyor. İçeri girer girmez büyülendim diyebilirim. Banfi’de bu tür suitlerde kalırsanız odada yer alan mini bar içerisindeki her şeyin ve odaya bırakılan tüm yiyeceklerin ücretsiz olduğunu da not düşelim 🙂

English:“One of the greatest gestures that Hospitality Director  Mr. Juan Miquel has made to us was to change our room and give us one of a few biggest suites in the hotel. This room, number 16, is 110 square metre and consists of a dressing room, a living room, a bedroom and a bigger bathroom than the living room of our house. The moment I walked in, I was fascinated. If you stay at Banfi in like this suites, remember that everything in the mini bar in the room and all the food they put in the room are free.”

Odamıza bırakılan Banfi’ye ait özel şampanya ve adımıza bırakılmış el yazısıyla yazılmış karşılama notu bizi gerçekten çok mutlu etti ve kendimizi özel hissetmemizi sağladı. Yurt dışında görmeye çok alışık olduğumuz bu tarz ikramların ve notların artık Türkiye’de de yaygınlaşmasını diliyorum.

English:“Banfi’s special champagne and the handwriting note for welcome that were left in our room made us really happy and made ourselves feel special. I wish to spread in Turkey as well that this style of catering and notes that we are accustomed to seeing abroad.”

Gelelim bizim evin salonundan büyük olan banyoya 🙂 Şaka değil gerçekten hayatımda gördüğüm en ferah ve en büyük banyo idi. İçerisinde hem antika bir küvet hem de duş vardı. Bu özel ağaç oyması lavabo dolabına ise ayrı bayıldım. Otellerle yakın iş yapan bir arkadaşım bir keresinde bana şöyle bir şey demişti ” Kaldığın otelin kalitesini oda banyosuna bırakılan şampuan,sabun gibi detaylardan anlarsın”. Ne zamandır buna gittiğim her yerde dikkat ediyorum. Gerçekten öyle! Kimi otel bırakın şampuanı sabun koymaktan aciz kalırken, kimisi sana diş fırçası seti bile bırakıyor. Banfi’nin kusursuz misafirperverliği ile tabi ki banyoda da sizin için en ufak detay bile düşünülmüştü. Molton Brown yüz yıkama jelleri, ağız gargarası, sabunlar, diş fırçası setleri… Bir de odaya sizin için bırakılmış yumuşacık sabahlıklar ve pofuduk terlikler…Akşamları odaya geldiğinizde yatağınızın sizin için hazırlanmış, yere ayak havlunuzun serilmiş, üzerine pofuduk terliklerinizi konulmuş ve yatağın üzerine sizin için orkideler bırakılmış olduğunu göreceksiniz! Adeta prensesler gibi bakılacaksınız 🙂 Tüm bu detayları nedeniyle de bence Castello Banfi hem romantik bir tatil yapmak isteyenler hem de balayı çiftleri için muhteşem bir seçenek!

English:“Let’s talk about the bathroom which is bigger than living room in our house ? It is not joke. It was really the most spacious and the biggest bathroom which i have ever seen in my life. It had both an antique bathtub and shower.  I also really loved this wood carving cupboard under the sink.  A friend doing business with the hotels said to me something like: ” You understand quality of the hotel that you stay when you see some details in your bathroom such as shampoo, soap, left in the bathroom.”  I pay attention this in everywhere I go. It really is! Some hotel, while the shampoo is not putting soap, some hotel even give you a toothbrush set. With Banfi’s perfect hospitality, of course, every detail was thought for you in the bathroom. Molton Brown face washing gels, mouthwash, soaps, toothbrush sets … And there are the soft bathrobes and fuzzy slippers left for you in the room … In the evenings, when you come to the room, you will see that your bed is prepared for you, your foot towel is ready on the ground, your fuzzy slippers are placed on it and the orchids are left for you on the bed! You will be feel like princesses ? Because of all these details, I think Castello Banfi is a great option for honeymooners as well as those who want to have a romantic holiday!”

Bazı odaların ise böyle minik terasları var. Bence normal standarttaki bir odasında bile böyle küçük detaylar bulabileceğiniz için asla hayal kırıklığına uğramazsınız.

English:“Some rooms have such tiny terraces. I think you will never be disappointed in that you can find such small details even in a normal standard room.”

OTELİN HAVUZ VE DİĞER ALANLARI – HOTEL POOL AND OTHER AREAS

Toskana bölgesindeki otellerin yaz mevsimindeki yüksek hava sıcaklıklarından dolayı havuzunun olması neredeyse şart. Biz Nisan ayının son haftası gitmiş olmamıza rağmen biliyorsunuz ki 32 dereceyi dahi gördük. Banfi’de havuza girmeye vaktimiz olmadı ama güneşlenme alanında çok keyifli ve huzurlu vakit geçirdik.

English:“Due to the high temperatures of summer in Tuscany, it is almost necessary to have a pool. Although we have been there in the last week of April, you know that it was 32 degrees. We did not have time to plunge into the pool at Banfi but we had a very pleasant and peaceful time in the sunbathing area.”

Karşınızda sonsuz gibi görünen Banfi bağları… Bu manzaraya karşı su içseniz bile size şarap etkisi yaratır 🙂

Otelin ayrıca bir de SPA’sı mevcut. Dileyenler bağlara karşı kurulmuş özel bir çadırda masaj deneyimi edinebilirler.

Otelin içerisinde bir mahzen ve ürünlerden alış veriş yapabileceğiniz bir şarap mağazası /barı (Enoteca/Wine Bar), bir kütüphane ve bir de müze bulunuyor. Kütüphanede her gün belirli saatler arasında happy hour yapılırken, dileyen misafirler şarap dükkanında hızlı bir tadım da yapabilirler. Esas tadımlar her gün belirli saatte Banfi’nin kendi üretim tesisinde yapılıyor. Bu tesisi zaten Banfi’ye tırmanırken yol üzerinde görüyorsunuz. Bizim gittiğimiz gün en son tur saat 16:00’daydı ve biz onu kaçırmıştık. Ama bence siz mutlaka saatini sorun ve gidin 🙂 Tüm bunların yanında bağlarda bisiklete binmek isterseniz otelin size sunduğu elektrikli bisikletleri kullanabilir, dilerseniz bir günlüğüne otelin ünlü şeflerinden yemek dersi alabilirsiniz. Tüm bunların haricinde, düğün ve etkinlik yapılması için de harika bir mekan. Hani içiniz de Toskana’da düğün yapma hayali olanlar varsa, Banfi bunun için harika bir yer! Benden söylemesi 🙂

English:“The hotel has a cellar and a wine shop / bar (Enoteca / Wine Bar), a library and a museum. MUHTEŞEM GÜN BATIMI MANZARASI – VIEW OF THE AMAZING SUNSET

Otelin demir parmaklıklı arka kapısından elimizde kadehlerimizle gün batımını izlemek için bağlara doğru yürüyüşe çıktık. Aslında tam olarak nasıl bir manzara göreceğimizi de hayal etmemiştik, sadece keşfetme duygusuyla attık kendimizi.

English:“We walked out for a walk towards the vineyards to watch the sunset with a glass of wine through the hotel’s back gate which is barred door  . In fact, we did not imagine exactly what kind of scenery we would see, only because of sense of discover.”

Sanırım tam o Magic Hour denile saatte çıkmışız ki daha yolun yarısındayken bile bağlara vuran ışık mükemmeldi.

English:“I guess we came out at exactly that hour called Magic Hour, and the light that reflected to the vineyards was perfect even we were on halfway.”

Kısa bir süre sonra karşımızda Castello Banfi’ye ait bir gölet ve gölete bakan bir çiftlik evinin daha olduğunu öğrendik. Bulunduğumuz tepeden hem Banfi’yi hem de bu çiftlik evini çok güzel bir şekilde izleyebiliyorduk. O sırada güneş öyle bir batmaya başladı ki…

English:“After a while we learned that there was a pond of Castello Banfi and a farm house overlooking the pond. We could see both Banfi and this farmhouse very beautifully from the hill. At that time the sun began to sink…”

Sanırım hayatımda izlediğim en acayip ve en güzel gün batımları listesinde ilk 3’e girmiştir bu manzara! Keşke gözümle gördüğü şuraya işleyebilsem… Umuyorum ki en kısa zamanda gider ve kendinizde böylesine güzel bir ana tanıklık edersiniz!

English:“I think it’s in the top 3 on the list of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen in my life! I wish I could show you the original image that i saw the sunset. I hope that you will go as soon as possible and a witness to such a beautiful moment!”

CASTELLO BANFI’NIN HARİKA RESTORANLARI – WONDERFUL RESTAURANTS OF CASTELLO BANFI

Otelin dışarıdan da misafir ağırladığı iki adet restoranı bulunuyor. Akşam yemekleri için fine dine hizmet veren La Sala dei Grappoli  ve sadece öğlen yemekleri için açık olan La Taverna!  Sabah kahvaltıları ise havuzun üst kısmındaki alanda veriliyor. Biz üç öğünü de deneyimleme şansını elde ettik.

English:“The hotel also has two restaurants for guests who are not staying in the hotel and just coming for the dinner or lunch. Akşam yemeğinde 5 çeşit lezzetten oluşan tadım mönüsünü denedik. Sanırım damakta cennete doğru çıkılan bir yolculuktu diye tarif edebilirim. Asla yan yana gelmez diyeceğiniz tatların muhteşem kombinasyonu ile müthiş bir akşam yemeği geçirdik. Şaraplar zaten yıkılıyordu! 🙂

English:“At dinner we tasted something in the tasting menu which consists of 5 different flavors. I think I can describe it was like a trip to the heaven in the palate. We had a great dinner with a wonderful combination of tastes you would never see together. The wines were already amazing! “

Öğlen yemeğini ise adeta klasik bir Toskana Tavernası konseptinde tasarlanan La Taverna’da yedik. Gayet makul ve başarılı idi. Biz gittiğimizde akın akın dışarıdan insanlar geliyordu. Bölgede oldukça popüler olduğunu sonradan öğrendik. Kısacası bu otelde kalmasanız bile, rezervasyon yaptırarak dışarıdan yemekleri deneyimlemeye gelebilirsiniz.

English:“We had lunch at La Taverna, a classic Tuscan Tavern concept. It was very great. When we were there, many people were flocking into this restaurant. We learned later that it was quite popular in the region. In short, even if you do not stay in this hotel, you can make reservation and taste the meals.”

MONTALCINO ZAMANI – MONTALCINO TIME

Montalcino, bölgenin altın şarabı olarak da bilinen Brunello di Montalcino şarabıyla ünlü bir kasaba! Oldukça küçük ve yokuşlu sokakları ile çok kısa sürede gezmeyi bitirebilirsiniz.

English:“Montalcino is a famous town with the wine of Brunello di Montalcino, also known as the golden wine of the region! It is that you can see in short time with its rather small and sloping streets.”

Daha Montalcino’ya adım atar atmaz bir günah kapısı buldum 🙂 Tüm seyahat boyunca keyifle takacağım Toskana hatırası hasır şapkamı 15 Euro’ya bu küçük dükkandan aldım.

English:“I had found a place yet in the minute we arrived in Montalcino 🙂  I bought my straw hat that I will wear on all my travels for 15 Euros in this small shop as a memory of Tuscany.”
